Eve (2017)

Project type

Generative Art. New Media installation: custom software, lcd screen, pc, wood, paint

Date

2017

Eve examines how identity is constructed, deconstructed, and continually reshaped in the digital age. Generated in real time through custom software, the work creates a dynamic hybrid face - an image in constant mutation, never stable, never repeating. This ambiguity reflects the shifting state of being and the fluid perception of time.

Drawing on photographs of glamorous Israeli models, Eve assembles fragments into a face that does not exist outside the work. It hovers between appearance and disappearance, human and machine, the individual and the collective.

At once universal and local, Eve reflects on post-digital notions of human-machine relationships while also engaging with the layered identities of Israeli and Jewish society. From a heterogeneous group of women-diverse in origin, skin color, and age-the program produces a new hybrid visage, suggesting a possible future identity: unstable, plural, and perpetually in flux.
